USA Flag is on the forefront of pushing the sport for Olympic inclusion, runs the largest flag football tournaments in the world and is the most followed brand in the sport.
Our 2022 World Championship in Tampa, FL set a record for our sport with over 780 teams in attendance over 3 days, across 32 different divisions, with over 10,000 room nights accounted for.
USA Flag, operating formerly the Flag Football World Championship Tour, has been instrumental in assisting running the events for selection and assisting with the National Team program for the past 3 years with a goal of pushing towards Olympic inclusion.
Our events are more than just another tournament. We try to create a festival style experience that includes sponsors, vendors, and other activities at each of our events to appeal towards travelling teams.
Founded in August 2015 as an event marketing company, the Flag Football World Championship Tour was built by two former players with creative, marketing and entreprenuerial backgrounds with a goal of uniting the sport of flag football under a single brand. We began by recruiting the top independent flag football tournament events in the nation to agree to partner under the FFWCT umbrella, allowing us to bring major sponsorship value to the events collectively and better market the events to players nationwide.
2015We launched 2016 with our first of 10 events featured on the Flag Football World Championship Tour, a 350 team event partner in Tampa, helping increase his registration by over 20% in 2 months and secure over 15 sponsors and vendors to enhance the event. We launched our first owned and operated tournament in Foley, Alabama that October, featuring over 30 teams all travelling in for our first tourism based event. By December we had travelled to, marketed and increased revenue and participation for events in 10 different states including Illinois, Washington, Georgia, Nevada, New York, California, Ohio, Texas, Alabama and Florida.
2016With the success of our Alabama tournament, we launched our first major cash prize event in Orlando for Memorial Day in 2017, which would eventually become our flagship event. The event exploded to 225 teams and put us in the spotlight as one of the top flag football organizations in the United States. It also brought us national recognition from teams, cities and facilities nationwide who began to bid for our events to try and drive tourism to their locations which would become a staple of our business model in the sports tourism market. We brought all of our events in-house from this point forward, only including fully owned and operated events on our tour.
2017Having established a strong track record as a top organizer and influencer in the sport, we set our eyes on one of our top goals which is to help drive the sport towards Olympic inclusion. We partnered with USA Football to help select and manage the men’s and women’s National Team team for the IFAF World Championship event held that August. We hosted the selection event and helped guide both teams in Panama City, Panama to dual gold medals for the first time in IFAF and U.S. history. We also engaged USA Football in a contract to begin developing the official governing body for the sport of Flag Football.
Our events continued to see tremendous growth as well, expanding our tour to over 20 events, continuing to grow our National Championship, and establishing the first true open invitation World Championship for youth and adults in Indianapolis. We partnered with the largest youth flag football league and tournament operator in the world to help create a major youth series feeding into our 2019 National Championships underneath the FFWCT brand and umbrella.
2018Our 2019 FFWCT Battle Orlando National Championships exploded into the largest flag football tournament in history, hosting 700 teams across 4 different facilities in the Orlando area, with 179 youth and 521 adult teams represented from all across the world. We expanded our regional event series as well to over 40 owned and operated or sanctioned events all feeding into our tour series. We also secured major grants from multiple states for continuing to grow our events to new heights.
20192020 saw huge growth despite COVID, kicking off the year with a new record 600+ adult teams the our Orlando World Championships. Continual efforts were made towards establishing the official governing body, standardizing rules across all formats, continuing to develop our sanctioning and membership model and looking to expand into leagues to feed our event series even further.
2020Kicking the year off with our Panama City Beach World Championships was our first 7 day, 2 weekend event and a huge success. Every tournament saw significant growth with people hungry to play and travel again post-Covid. Partnering with USA Football to help them scout and develop their National Team program through our tournament series carried all the way through both men's and women's Gold Medals in the IFAF World Championships that December.
2021We kicked off 2022 setting a new all-time record with over 780 teams in attendance at our Tampa World Championships for youth and adult in January. We added a dozen events to our schedule nationwide and were able to jump into many new markets successfully. We saw the World Games come to the United States where our men's and women's teams won Gold and Silver respectively. We ran our first full Summer of youth camps with over 30 nationwide. In the Fall of 2022, we made a huge decision to rebrand under the USA Flag umbrella, a move that will help us continue to expand the sport for future Olympic inclusion!
2022We run many regional tournaments every year, along with Majors and 1 National Championship culminating in the largest flag football tournament of the year, our World Championships every January.
Our Open events are official qualifier tournaments that guarantee top 4 seeding for our World Championships, higher cash prizes than regionals at high priority locations! We look to host 4-8 Open events per year in mid to major markets that our players will travel to consistently.
In the final major stop prior to the World Championships, the National Championships will provide teams with their last chance to “punch their ticket” to the 2024 World Championships. 250+ teams will venture to Arlington, TX from all over the country to crown a National Champion.
The 2024 Flag Football World Championships, hosted in Tampa, FL, will play host to over ~900 of the world’s top teams from the United States, Canada, Panama, Mexico, Denmark, Bahamas, UK, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico and others competed for over $50,000 and the title of World Champion!
Starting in 2024 we are looking at hosting a series of tournaments outside of the United States in markets that would be prime for flag football expansion and growth! Our goal is to work with local and national leaders in our sport to collaborate on an exciting opportunity for all!
