HOW WE GOT HERE

BIRTH OF A MOVEMENT

Founded in August 2015 as an event marketing company, the Flag Football World Championship Tour was built by two former players with creative, marketing and entreprenuerial backgrounds with a goal of uniting the sport of flag football under a single brand. We began by recruiting the top independent flag football tournament events in the nation to agree to partner under the FFWCT umbrella, allowing us to bring major sponsorship value to the events collectively and better market the events to players nationwide.

2015

THE FIRST TOUR

We launched 2016 with our first of 10 events featured on the Flag Football World Championship Tour, a 350 team event partner in Tampa, helping increase his registration by over 20% in 2 months and secure over 15 sponsors and vendors to enhance the event. We launched our first owned and operated tournament in Foley, Alabama that October, featuring over 30 teams all travelling in for our first tourism based event. By December we had travelled to, marketed and increased revenue and participation for events in 10 different states including Illinois, Washington, Georgia, Nevada, New York, California, Ohio, Texas, Alabama and Florida.

2016

PUTTING FLAG FOOTBALL ON THE MAP

With the success of our Alabama tournament, we launched our first major cash prize event in Orlando for Memorial Day in 2017, which would eventually become our flagship event. The event exploded to 225 teams and put us in the spotlight as one of the top flag football organizations in the United States. It also brought us national recognition from teams, cities and facilities nationwide who began to bid for our events to try and drive tourism to their locations which would become a staple of our business model in the sports tourism market. We brought all of our events in-house from this point forward, only including fully owned and operated events on our tour.

2017

OLYMPIC ASPIRATIONS

Having established a strong track record as a top organizer and influencer in the sport, we set our eyes on one of our top goals which is to help drive the sport towards Olympic inclusion. We partnered with USA Football to help select and manage the Team USA men’s and women’s team for the IFAF World Championship event held that August. We hosted the selection event and helped guide both teams in Panama City, Panama to dual gold medals for the first time in IFAF and U.S. history. We also engaged USA Football in a contract to begin developing the official governing body for the sport of Flag Football.

Our events continued to see tremendous growth as well, expanding our tour to over 20 events, continuing to grow our National Championship, and establishing the first true open invitation World Championship for youth and adults in Indianapolis. We partnered with the largest youth flag football league and tournament operator in the world to help create a major youth series feeding into our 2019 National Championships underneath the FFWCT brand and umbrella.

2018

SETTING THE BAR

Our 2019 FFWCT Battle Orlando National Championships exploded into the largest flag football tournament in history, hosting 700 teams across 4 different facilities in the Orlando area, with 179 youth and 521 adult teams represented from all across the world. We expanded our regional event series as well to over 40 owned and operated or sanctioned events all feeding into our tour series. We also secured major grants from multiple states for continuing to grow our events to new heights.

2019

STAYING POWER

2020 saw tremendous success despite COVID. While cutting back on the total number of events we were able to operate, we were blessed to execute all of our largest events and many of our regionals despite the challenges faced by all event owners where many others were not.

Being a non-contact sport and very flexible in the styles offered and field sized needed we adjusted and excelled in new spaces and regions across the country and continued to develop our very loyal following through our perseverance.

2020

YEAR OF EXPANSION

2021 is our year of expansion, adding over 10 regionals to our calendar nationwide and 2 Majors as a top tier event below our National and World Championship pinnacle events. We created a brand new format that has taken off as a fan favorite and moved to a qualification only World Championship event in Tampa that has subsequently beefed up the participation in our Regional and Major tournaments significantly.

We also formalized a partnership with USA Football to be an official scouting destination for the Team USA Men's and Women's program. We will finish 2021 with the most participation, total events and gross revenue of any year in our existence by far.

2021

Sky's the Limit

In 2022, we aim to push the envelope even further. Our goal is to add an additional 5-10 regionals and 1-2 Majors in key markets. In addition we have our Memorial Day Major up for bid for relocation.

We are also looking to add additional beach and grass combination events to our calendar where appropriate.

2022

FAQ'S

Here are some of the most common questions we get asked!

We do have a housing group we work with and have minimum rebate requests and room blocks. We can work with a venue’s housing group but prefer not to if at all possible.

Our events are not stay to play. We prefer to work with markets who understand 100% of our room blocks will be in their required area, pushed to the teams, with surveys sent out, but difficult to track every hotel booked without stay to play.

No we do not require a bid fee, only a rights fee due after signing depending on the event size.

For our tournaments, teams usually travel up to 4 or so hours for regionals, 5-12 hours for Majors and world wide for our national and world championships. Many teams travel nationwide for any tournament in high priority travel destinations.
