What's This?

The 2019 Battle Orlando National Championships was a huge success, with over 700 teams attending the 3 day event in Orlando, Florida over MLK weekend this past January. The 2020 event will be here before we know it, and we are now ready to announce some major changes and improvement to our 2020 tournament schedule, starting with Orlando!

Here are some exciting changes we’ll be making with more details below!

  • Orlando becoming World Championships
  • 5x Points and Championship Rings given out in Orlando to all winning teams
  • More hotel and rental house options opening soon
  • Hall of Fame details
  • Players, teams, coaches, organizers and officials yearly awards announced
  • Expanded media coverage
  • $20,000 East Coast Nationals, $20,000 West Coast Nationals and $20,000 Gulf Coast Nationals announced for 2020

Please note prior to registering, all players and teams planning on participating in the Orlando World Championships can play at any location or a combination of locations. Format locations will be based on final team count and final schedules and will be announced after the final registration deadline. Players and teams should plan on staying somewhere in Kissimmee, Florida and arrive Thursday, January 16th and leave Monday, January 20th.

Orlando officially becoming the FFWCT World Championships

Our World Championships was always meant to be the biggest, most internationally diverse and entertaining event to cap off our tournament season. With the 2019 success and after many requests from players and fans alike, Orlando will now be the pinnacle event to bookend each calendar year. This means all teams will have an opportunity to earn World Championship rings for all division winners starting this year in Orlando, earn 5x Battle Points, and take part in the largest flag football tournament on the planet with a combined purse of over $30,000 in prizes!

Registration deposits for the FFWCT Orlando World Championships will open August 7th for all teams who have earned paid bids with priority registration, and August 14th to the general public. Registering early is highly encouraged to guarantee yourself a spot. Starting October 1st only full payments will be accepted. Final registration deadline will be December 18th, 2019. Hotel and housing options will be available even sooner, most likely within the next week with specially discounted rates so stay on the lookout for more announcements!

Hall of Fame and Other Orlando Additions

Starting in Orlando, we will officially be launching the official Flag Football Hall of Fame! Here in the next couple weeks, fans will have an open period for nominating players, teams, coaches, organizers and officials who meet the minimum requirements that we’ll be releasing soon, based on participation in FFWCT events and others in past history alike. All selected 2020 Hall of Fame class members will be inducted at a special ceremony during the Draft party on Thursday, January 16th prior to the tournament in Orlando.

In addition to the Hall of Fame, we will also be nominating top choices for Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Organizer of the Year and Official of the year for various positions, formats and age groups with more details to come. The nominations will be put to a fan vote and winners will be honored alongside the Hall of Fame class inductees at the Draft party in Orlando on January 16th as well.

Another area of focus for our events will be with our media coverage, where we are expanding upon and adding to our official media team to try and improve upon the coverage of all divisions, for photography, video highlights and live stream efforts alike. In Friday on the first day of pool play in Orlando, we will have pre-selected featured live-streamed games that you can now fight for at the draft as another variable in your decision for which spot to take, knowing you’ll get some footage for that day at the very least!

3 National Events with $60,000 in Total Prizes

With Orlando switching to become our new World Championship event, we have additional news regarding our National events that we think the players will be excited about! With so many divisions at one large tournament, it can be hard each for player to truly have an opportunity to compete for each of the top prizes, and equally hard for some teams to travel to locations that aren’t as familiar with their style of play (i.e. Contact formats in Texas…). Our goal in 2020 is to bridge this gap by operating 3 large National level events, one of each on the East Coast, West Coast and Gulf Coast with region-specific formats.

The Gulf Coast Nationals will be back in Arlington, TX on May 23-24, 2020 as a 2 day event featuring non-contact styles such as 4v4, 5v5, 7v7 and 8v8 Screen for men’s, women’s, coed and youth!

East Coast will feature contact styles specifically, and West Coast will feature a mixture of both relevant to the West Coast traditional styles, with full date and location details being announced over the next couple months.

All three Nationals will feature $20,000 in cash prize and allow players and teams a better opportunity to play in the styles they desire at each event for the maximum reward without having to choose between them.

Stay tuned over the next couple weeks for more announcements and details regarding the Hall of Fame, Nationals details and more!
