Drew Bree’s Co-Owned Restaurant, “Walk-On’s” becomes the Official Sports Bistreaux of the 2024 Flag Football World Championships
Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux has partnered with USA Flag to become the official sports Bistreaux of the 2024 Flag Football World Championships in Tampa, Florida January 10th through 14th. The event is the largest Flag Football Tournament in the world and drives sports fans from all over the United States & internationally. When asked about the partnership, Jennifer Zmurk-Diaz, Director of Marketing for Walking Tall Brands replied, “We are ecstatic to welcome and partner with USA Flag for the Flag Football World Championship! The restaurant brand is Co-owned by NFL Legend and Hall of Famer Drew Brees from the New Orleans Saints. NFL Super Bowl XLIV MVP Drew Brees is a native of Austin, Tx, and a graduate of Westlake High School. There, he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. As a senior in 1996, Drew led his football team to a perfect 16-0 record and the 5A Texas State Championship while garnering the state’s 5A Offensive Player of the Year honor.
He attended Purdue University on a football scholarship and earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from the prestigious Krannert School of Management. A two-time Heisman finalist, Brees led the Boilermakers to a Big Ten Championship and Rose Bowl appearance following the 2000 season. That same year he won the Maxwell Award as the nation’s top collegiate player and was named Academic All-American Player of the Year and received the National Football Foundation’s post-graduate scholarship.
As an NFL quarterback, Drew spent five years with the San Diego Chargers and joined the New Orleans Saints in 2006. He has been named to nine Pro Bowls, numerous honors including the 2004 Comeback Player of the Year, 2006 All-Pro Team, 2006 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, 2008 and 2011 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and Super Bowl XLIV Champion.
Drew became a committed fan of Walk-On’s Southern food not long after arriving in New Orleans. He often reflects on his first visit saying that he instantly knew if he were to ever open a restaurant, it would be just like Walk-On’s. Becoming an owner in 2015 was an exciting moment for Drew and one that he looks at as joining another winning team.
Drew and his wife Brittany have four young children. He brings the same pride, perseverance and perfection from the field to the restaurant.
