Flag Football World Championship Tour (FFWCT) today unveiled its new name, USA Flag, from its headquarters in Allen, Texas. This rebranding initiative, set to take effect in January 2023, is designed to further the events organizer’s goal of uniting the sport of flag football under a single brand while continuing to earn it broader recognition both nationally and internationally.
The new brand identity clarifies FFWCT’s role within the sport of flag football worldwide, but also renews the drive and focus needed to push flag football to a whole new level, including earning the budding sport future inclusion in the Olympics. Since its inception, the sports events corporate has run over 100 events featuring over 7,400 teams in the last 5 years. Over 90,000 athletes have participated in the tournaments with over $450,000 given in cash prizes.
Rebranding lays down an important marker in the development of flag football that will help FFWCT achieve its goals of:
- Helping promote the sport in many other outlets.
- Strengthen governing of the sport through standardization of rules and procedures.
- Help develop officiating as well as camp and league programs.
- Venture beyond traditional tournaments that the FFWCT is known for.
“We are happy to announce the launching of USA Flag, a move that unites our two brands under one umbrella in the exciting sport of flag football. FFWCT has built a reputation for holding the largest flag football tournaments in the world for youth and adults, a feat we couldn’t have managed were it not for our sponsors and other well-wishers. We look forward to further growth and recognition of the sport across the globe as we aspire to have it granted Olympic status in the future.” – Travis Burnett & Charles Davis, USA Flag Co-Founders
This rebranding initiative comes hand in hand with the launch of the USA Flag Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization that will assist in fundraising and development initiatives to support the players, officials and event operators worldwide.
USA Flag plans to roll out across the globe in the coming weeks and months and has launched a new website usaflag.org. The new site will act as an important resource for stakeholders to better understand the sport of flag football as well as the culture and people behind it.
About FFWCT
The Flag Football World Championship Tour is the brainchild of two former players Charles Davis and Travis Burnett, who leveraged their marketing and entrepreneurial backgrounds to bring the top independent flag football tournament events under one umbrella. Founded in August 2015 as an event marketing company, FFWCT has grown into the largest flag football tournament organizer in the world, as well as the most followed brand in the sport. Its World Championships event, to be held in Tampa – FL this January, is expected to eclipse 800 teams – an indication of the sport’s massive growth in recent times.
